What God Sees

Close up of bare feet“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. ” Isaiah 46:9-10.

We sometimes forget God’s ability to see “the end from the beginning”, to declare the things that are not yet done as if they were already done.  Because of this ability, God sees things so differently than we do. We see the problem; He sees the answer. We see the sickness; He sees the healing. We see the disaster; He sees the victory. No wonder our understanding is so limited, while His is so infinite!

The only way we can see what God sees is by looking through the eye of faith rather than the eye of flesh. In Hebrews the 11th chapter, it says “faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.”  As long as Peter was seeing Jesus, he could walk on the water as Jesus was doing, “…but when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid and began to sink.

Sometimes we just have to “unsee” the circumstances we are going through and by the eye of faith, see what God sees: the end of the battle, the victory!

THE BATTLE STILL RAGES

Photo of soldier being kissed by his daughter "Daddy, This is For Luck"What a wonderful HOMECOMING! Our country was informed that all our military would be leaving Iraq by the end of 2011. That was long awaited news and a great “Christmas Gift” for many families.

Our family had much to be thankful for as our son was not expected to be home until February or March, but we received word that his unit would be among those returning in December. Planning our Christmas was much more exciting.

In the midst of our rejoicing we were reminded of others less fortunate, who’s loved ones, came home in a flag-draped casket. Instead of joyful celebrations there were many tears.

It is good to leave one battlefield, but the Afghanistan war continues to kill and maim America’s bravest. We’ve been there more than ten years and the number of deaths and wounded continue to rise.

What can be done to make a difference? Our military is abundantly well equipped and trained, but we have weapons far more superior. We have the mighty power of PRAYER. Service people deeply appreciate everyone who utilizes this weapon. Just knowing that someone back home is calling their name in prayer, asking God’s grace and protection in the midst of grave dangers, means so much.

I am so thankful that every name on our CMT prayer list is alive and many have returned home, but our commitment continues for the “Battle Still Rages” in Afghanistan and with other governments that would like to destroy democracy and America’s freedom. Let us not slack in 2012 but with more fervent prayer remember all who serve with honor to protect and defend.

We pray for God’s blessings and desire to see a great outpouring of his Spirit bringing revival to our land.
